10 photos to inspire your vintage tea party

One day this past winter as I was cleaning out the attic I noticed two boxes filled with dishes, curious to know what tresures I would find, I opened them up and found stacks and stacks of tea cups, saucers, plates, painted glass cups, and serving trays!

I was thrilled (to say the least) to find the stash of my grandmothers and my mamas old tea sets.

Just thinking about throwing a tea party made all my girly desires start so surface! I got my sister-in-law on board, and we started planning...

We decided we would go with a mis-matched, vintage book theme since we had a hodgebodge of tea cups and saucers and couldnt make it symmetrical anyway. We also wanted to utilize what we had in our own homes and my mamas attic. Even the flowers were forged out of our gardens and forest.

Planning the menu was a easy task since Shana and I both love to bake and cook. We decided on a vairty of savoury sandwiches, scones, tarts, and shortbread, and made everything ourselves.

And here are the results...

Baking and decorating cakes has been a hobby of mine since I was a teenager,

so I put together a garden theme, white layered cake.

My sisters are great book collectors and have collected

or inherited old books over the years. They created the perfect center pieces and

made for some good conversation starters.

The evening ended up being quite chilly even at the end of May, so we filled my Great Grandfathers old trunk with warm blankets to keep our guest warm and cozy.

Adding Menu cards was a simply eligent touch from my talented sister-in-law.

Our main goal was to create a relaxed, fun and enouaging night for each one of the ladies attending. A cozy campfire made the atmosphere feel light, cozy and put

in a good effort to achive this goal.

Choose a number to find your seat; This simple interative activity lighten the spirt upon arriving. Each guest chose a number and then proceded to find a matching number in their tea cup to find their seat.

The numbers served good purpose during the evening with games and sharing time.

We placed questions under each guest plate, Some deep, some funny, Then started with number one and each person got a chance to share.

Everything turned out just how we had envisioned and dreamt it would.

We had a very lovely and relaxed evening with our ladies group from church, eating yummy food, sharing stories, playing games, and ending the evening with some singing around the campfire.
